Music therapy is a holistic experience that uses music to reach non-musical goals. Whether the goals be cognitive, emotional, physical, or spiritual; there are a variety of interventions that can assist in reaching the client’s desire. In order to meet the needs of the client it is important to meet the individual where they are. Understanding their demographic, personality, impairments, and anything else that will create optimal opportunities for success is a priority. In addition to meeting the client where they are, being knowledgeable of music and the brain is also ideal for this profession. Combining the two entities of the ISO Principle and music psychology will usher in developing the overall well being of the client, my ultimate priority. My purpose in the music therapy profession is to build confidence through music experiences that can be carried throughout the duration of those individual’s lives. Music therapy is not about being effective in one moment but a moment that last a lifetime.
Note by Note promotes musical and leadership skills. Its aim is to affect change “one note at a time.” The mission is to reach communities where a musical disparity exists, bridging the gap between music and essential life skill experiences of youth and adolescents.
